Her leadership was evident as she commanded an 800-person battalion task force during the initial spearhead attack into Iraq in 2003. Her service has earned her numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Service Medal and the Bronze Star, highlighting her dedication and excellence in service.

Beyond her military achievements, Laurie is a committed constitutional conservative who proudly cast her first vote for Ronald Reagan in 1980. After retiring from the Army, she founded Corvus Consulting, a highly successful strategic consulting firm specializing in Electronic Warfare and Cyberspace Operations, further showcasing her expertise in federal and legislative matters.

Laurie and her husband Paul, a West Point graduate and Army Infantry Airborne Ranger, have a storied family history of military service. They reside in Edenton, North Carolina, where they are actively involved in supporting veterans, conservative causes, and local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of the Albemarle and the local baseball team, the Steamers.
